About Lagos University Teaching Hospital
The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) is a premier federal tertiary healthcare, research, and training institution established in 1962 in Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. Affiliated with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) College of Medicine, the hospital boasts a physical infrastructure that supports between 800 to 950 beds, making it one of the largest teaching hospitals in Nigeria. Operating under the leadership of Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo, LUTH has undergone massive modernisations, including upgraded urological operating theatres, advanced pathology labs, and specialized private wings like Ward E7. Beyond its extensive tertiary clinical care, it plays a vital role in medical manpower development by running dedicated specialized schools for nursing sciences, biomedical engineering, and health information management.
